Huron Hurricanes Aquatic Club – Part-Time Swim Coach (Level 1 Preferred)
The Huron Hurricanes Aquatic Club is a small, community-focused rural swim club operating out of two local pools in Huron County. We proudly support both age group swimmers and a growing masters program, fostering a positive and inclusive environment for athletes of all levels.
We are seeking a dedicated coach to join our team and help shape the future of our club.
Position Overview
This part-time role combines on-deck coaching, limited administrative responsibilities, and attendance at swim meets. We are seeking a coach interested in contributing to the growth of our club, with the potential for increased responsibilities over time. Former competitive swimmers interested in transitioning into coaching are encouraged to apply. Travel within the region may be required. Practice schedules can be arranged to accommodate school or work commitments where possible.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality on-deck coaching for age group and masters swimmers following the Swim Canada Appropriate Athlete Development frameworks
- Attend local, regional, and at times national swim meets or swim camps to support athletes
- Maintain accurate club records, including training logs and performance tracking
- Manage meet entries and related administrative tasks
- Create and schedule social media posts to promote club activities
- Communicate effectively with parents, swimmers, and club leadership
- Participate in monthly board meetings as part of the coaching team
- Collaborate with fellow coaches to ensure consistent programming across groups
- Follow the overarching plan for age group swimmers laid out by the head coach
- Participate in yearly planning (meet selection, goals, camps, swim-a-thon)
Qualifications
- NCCP Level 1 Coaching Certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Valid Ontario driver’s licence
- Vulnerable Sector Check required prior to confirmation of hire
- Familiarity with REMS, Hytek, and PoolQ
- Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small, collaborative team
- Interest in long-term leadership development within the club
Compensation
- Hourly rate: $18–$30, based on experience and qualifications
- Swim meet session fee: $80–$90, based on experience and qualifications
- Mileage according to Ontario guidelines
